Seamless go-live: MAURER SE switches to IFS Cloud with FLEXiCODE

MAURER SE successfully modernized its ERP landscape to IFS Cloud. Together with FLEXiCODE as the implementation partner, the upgrade from IFS Applications 9 to IFS Cloud was carried out – so smoothly that many employees barely noticed the switch.

"Some colleagues didn't even notice the system changeover—that's how smoothly it went."

Technically demanding – barely noticeable in day-to-day operations

A key success factor was the deliberately pragmatic implementation approach. Together with FLEXiCODE, MAURER SE opted for a largely 1:1 upgrade from IFS Applications 9 to IFS Cloud. The team consciously avoided extensive redesigns to ensure a fast, low-risk transition.

To support this, detailed “click lists” were created. Each user documented every click and entry regularly performed in their day-to-day operations step by step. These actions were then mimicked in the cloud environment, allowing key users to test all processes independently. Through these structured tests and highly customized test scripts, they ensured complete functional and result equivalence with the legacy system.

What ran seamlessly for users was technically highly complex: Since the path to the cloud requires a step through IFS Applications 10, FLEXiCODE combined both migration stages into in an integrated project approach. Supplemented by performance optimizations for large historical data sets as well as the migration and technical re-implementation of complex custom functions developed in the past, the upgrade was successfully realized during ongoing operations without any production downtime.

In-depth expertise and a true partnership

The project’s success was based on close integration of both teams. FLEXiCODE developers, functional consultants, and Technical Project Management worked hand in hand with MAURER SE’s experts.

Particularly valuable was the extensive system knowledge on the customer side. Many employees had already been involved in the original IFS implementation. This insider knowledge, combined with the FLEXiCODE IFS Cloud Extensions, resulted in a solution precisely tailored to MAURER’s highly specialized requirements.

"FLEXiCODE supported us very reliably throughout the entire project. The close collaboration between the development teams, the excellent technical coordination, and the high level of commitment in project management gave us a great deal of confidence."

Future-proof with the evergreen principle

Since the go-live on January 5, 2026, IFS Cloud has been running in production. With the evergreen approach, MAURER has laid the foundation for continuously developing the system and gradually introducing new functions. Compared to traditional upgrade projects bundled at longer intervals, this makes further development more flexible and easier to plan. At the same time, it creates a future-ready foundation for systematically leveraging technological innovations such as AI-supported processes.

More than just a project: reliability in ongoing operations

Modern ERP operations do not end with go-live. To ensure maximum IFS Cloud performance and sustainably relieve the internal IT department, MAURER SE continues to rely on FLEXiCODE’s expertise post-project.

As part of our System Managed Services, we assume technical responsibility for the cloud environment. This includes:

  • Proactive monitoring: Monitoring system stability and performance around the clock.
  • Release management: Professional support for the semi-annual IFS updates, including technical validation.
  • Secure system operations: Administration of the technical platform so that MAURER’s IT can fully focus on optimizing business processes.
