Successful business software is created through the interplay of technology, experience and community

Technology is the foundation of modern enterprise software—powerful, scalable and setting the direction for the future. But it only reaches its full potential when it is further developed in close dialogue with those who use it every day. This is precisely where the unique strength of the IFS ecosystem lies: alongside innovative technology for ERP, FSM and EAM—enhanced by future technologies such as IFS.ai—a strong, committed community plays a central role. Because successful software is not created in isolation. It grows where users, partners and the vendor come together, share perspectives, learn from one another and think ahead together. It is the dialogue between technology and practice that makes solutions practical, relevant and future-proof.

Why user knowledge is crucial

Software projects are more complex than ever—and no technology can manage this complexity on its own. Only when real-world experience feeds into the exchange do solutions emerge that not only impress technically, but also create genuine added value.

For companies that work with IFS Cloud or are planning an implementation, exchange within the community provides valuable guidance. It highlights proven approaches, opens up new perspectives and makes it possible to learn from one another. At the same time, vendors and implementation partners gain valuable practical insights through this dialogue, which can help shape future developments more effectively. This creates a cycle of technology and practical knowledge that ensures solutions grow with companies’ requirements—and address where they deliver the greatest value in day-to-day operations.

The DIAG Group: A platform for exchange and collaboration

A key role in fostering this dialogue is played by the independent German-speaking IFS User Group (DIAG Group), which is much more than just a network. It is the platform where the IFS Community comes together to share knowledge, discuss challenges openly and jointly develop new perspectives. As a vendor-independent platform, the DIAG Group connects users, partners and IFS, brings different viewpoints together, and ensures that valuable practical input becomes visible and accessible. It provides space for experience reports, practical discussions and strategic insights that help companies shape their ERP projects even more effectively and leverage potential more successfully.

For participating companies, this means: They are in regular exchange with one another, incorporating the knowledge of experts from IFS and the partner landscape. They can contribute their own perspectives and benefit from the experiences of other companies and users. At the same time, they gain early insights into relevant topics, trends and developments—a valuable basis for transparent dialogue, well-founded decisions and future-proof strategies.

Exchange as a driver of innovation – A look at the DIAG Congress 2025

How powerful this exchange is was also impressively demonstrated at this year’s DIAG Congress, which once again brought users, partners and IFS together under the DIAG guiding principle “Innovation through dialogue”. The event provided a valuable platform for direct dialogue, fresh impetus and practical discussions that resonate far beyond the congress itself. At the heart of it were exciting panel discussions on stage, highlighting a wide range of project experiences—from successful new implementations to demanding upgrade projects. This open dialogue made it clear how valuable continuous exchange within the IFS Community is, and how strongly everyone involved can benefit from one another.

One example was provided by FLEXiCODE customer Maximator, which reported on its unusually fast and successful implementation of IFS Cloud. It became clear how important a clearly structured project approach and forward-looking planning are—and what potential is created when the right technology and implementation partners, process understanding and user knowledge work hand in hand.

Formats such as the popular World Café, where individual relevant topics such as e-invoicing, interfaces, test automation or quality management were discussed in depth, also demonstrated the innovative power of open exchange. This is where not only new ideas emerge, but also valuable impulses that can serve as a basis for future developments—on the user side as well as for partners and vendors.

Impressions from the DIAG Congress 2025 in Mannheim

Inspiring conversations and exciting discussions shaped the atmosphere of this year’s congress. The impressions below show how vibrant and valuable the dialogue within the IFS Community was.

We would like to sincerely thank Markus Gasser (Chairman of the Board of the German-speaking IFS User Group e.V.) and Frank Müthing (Board Member, DIAG e.V.), who, through their great commitment and work within the DIAG , create a valuable space for the IFS DACH community and its dialogue.

For all companies that work with IFS solutions or are planning an implementation, joining this strong community can be a decisive advantage.

DIAG membership provides access to consolidated knowledge, project experience, IFS operations and relevant impulses for innovation around IFS products and services. DIAG members value this exchange as an important addition for shaping the provision and operation of IFS more effectively and making the best possible use of IFS as business software.
