IFS Intelligence: How Industrial AI Reduces Operational Complexity

From natural language queries to Digital Workers: Understand data, identify connections, and trigger actions directly.

For companies with demanding production, logistics, service, and maintenance processes, simply making data available is not enough. What matters is the ability to quickly identify connections, make informed decisions, and take the right actions.

With IFS Intelligence, IFS brings Industrial AI into everyday operations. Information from different areas of the business is connected and made accessible within a shared context. Users can ask questions in natural language, identify dependencies, trigger actions, and delegate clearly defined tasks to Digital Workers.

Five key capabilities show how IFS Intelligence connects data, decisions, and actions in practice:

1. Ask questions, understand context, and act with Cowork

With Cowork, IFS Intelligence enables natural language queries based on operational data, processes, and business rules.

This allows users not only to retrieve individual pieces of information, but also to identify connections across different areas of the business. If an order is delayed, for example, the resulting impact on production, logistics, maintenance, or delivery can be taken into account.

The principle behind it is: Ask. Understand. Act.

Insights do not simply end up in another dashboard. Actions can be prepared directly from the respective work context and triggered after human approval.

2. Scale recurring analyses and tasks

Once formulated, questions can be saved as a Lens, for example as a live dashboard or mini-app. Because a Lens remains connected to the underlying data, the information updates as the operational situation changes.

Successfully completed tasks can also be saved as a Skill and reused. This turns a successful workflow into a reusable part of the working process.

This reduces manual updates and makes it easier to embed analyses and processes into everyday operations.

3. Delegate defined workflows with Loops

With Loops, defined workflows can be delegated to Digital Workers that run in the background and escalate when human judgment or approval is required.

Teams can create their own Digital Workers in Studio to automate defined workflows. Human judgment and approval remain part of the process wherever required.

4. Extend IFS faster with Runway

Runway uses plain-language requirements to accelerate the migration, configuration, and extension of IFS. It is designed to reduce implementation effort and lower the risk associated with changes and extensions.

5. Build in security and governance from the start

IFS Intelligence is built on the IFS Industrial AI Harness. It provides the framework for the use of the various IFS Intelligence capabilities and AI-powered automations.

Existing identities, permissions, policies, and approval processes govern which data AI can access and which actions it is authorized to perform. Human oversight and auditability are built into these processes.

This enables companies to extend Industrial AI across operational and business-critical processes while keeping governance and control embedded in the underlying architecture.

From technology to a concrete use case

IFS Intelligence provides a powerful foundation. However, business value comes from a clearly defined use case, suitable data, measurable goals, and meaningful integration into existing ERP, EAM, and FSM processes.

Not every requirement needs to be addressed in the same way. Depending on the situation, an existing IFS Intelligence capability, another Industrial AI capability, a custom FLEXiCODE solution, or a combination of these may be the right approach.

FLEXiCODE supports companies in identifying suitable use cases, evaluating the right Solution Approach, and taking the selected approach from pilot to productive deployment. We also use AI in project delivery, including analysis, development, documentation, and quality assurance.

Our Conclusion

IFS Intelligence brings Industrial AI directly into operational processes, connecting information, decisions, and actions across different areas of the business.

For companies, this creates opportunities to understand complex dependencies faster, automate recurring tasks, and delegate defined workflows to Digital Workers with appropriate controls. The key is to start with a concrete use case and align the use of AI consistently with business processes and measurable outcomes.
